The 11th Reintegration Puzzle Conference will be held in Brisbane, August 5th – 7th 2015.

This year the conference will focus on alternatives to prison and the systemic issues which lead to over representation of particular groups in the prison system. Programme Overview
The International Workshop on Strategies for Effective Prison Management & Rehabilitation is aimed at Governments and prison services around the world are undergoing processes of renewal and
reform that demand new knowledge, skills and leadership abilities in order to meet the new
challenges in prison management. The concept of prison as a tool for rehabilitation is becoming
more and more popular, as it is realized that rehabilitation benefits not only the prisoners but
also society at large. The prison is viewed today not only as a deterrent and means of
punishment, but also as an opportunity for rehabilitation.

Programme Objectives
The programme presents essential knowledge of the economic, medical, epidemiological,
social, community and political aspects that relate specifically to prisons and to the prison
service, in order to understand their influence on the prisoners and their implications on the
whole of society.

The programme aims to develop leadership and impart tools to manage complex management
situations in prisons management.

Who Should Attend
The workshop is designed for government officials connected to the prison services, senior managers involved in the running of a prison and prison administrators and organisations dealing with rehabilitation, including the following authorities:

* Ministry of Justice
* Prison Services
* Ministry of Home Affairs
* Ministry of Security
* Rehabilitation services

Programme Structure
Five days of intensive studies to be held in Accra Ghana. Two lecturers from the Galilee Institute Centre for Strategic Studies will deliver the programme. The daily schedule will comprise 8 hours a days from Monday to Thursday and 4 hours on Friday, with a total of 36 academic hours.
