June 16 to 19, 2015
This conference will provide a robust review of current trends in arts in corrections, including an overview of public policy, funding strategies, evaluation methods, and legislative trends. Special features include a one-day training program on Tuesday, June 16, led by experienced practitioners for artists who are new to the field; opportunities to build out the structure for a national coalition; and a showcase of the arts at San Quentin State Prison on Friday, June 19.

This workshop is intended primarily for psychologists, psychiatrists, and other mental health personnel who have the professional qualifications to conduct psychological assessments. It also is open to researchers and their graduate students, administrators, and personnel in the mental health and criminal justice systems (e.g., social workers, counselors, lawyers, probation officers, and law enforcement investigators) whose work requires, or would benefit from, knowledge about psychopathy, its measurement, and implications.
You will learn about:
- Conceptual and theoretical issues related to psychopathy
- Research on psychopathy as a risk factor for recidivism and violence, including sexual offending
- New research on the application of item response theory (IRT) to analyses of the discriminative ability of PCL-R items
- The structural properties of the PCL-R, PCL: SV, and PCL: YV
- The validity and reliability of the PCL-R with various offender and patient populations
- Administration and scoring of the PCL-R
